Facebook Creates Special Post to Offer And Solicit Blood Donations

//Facebook Creates Special Post to Offer And Solicit Blood Donations

Facebook has numerous publishing options to demonstrate opinions and positions of its users, such as landmark events and organ donation. To encourage blood donation, the social network now allows its users to post on their timelines by declaring themselves donors and even soliciting donations from others.

The platform will provide a special publication type for those who are looking for donations, being able to request a specific blood type and also include where they should be made. The purpose here is very clear: to make life easier for those who need donations and to make this message common and widely disseminated.

You can register as a donor and provide detailed information such as your blood type. In addition, the information is posted privately within the social network, initially available only to the user. Then you can change the visibility so that other Facebook participants can check it out.

Although excellent, the initiative will only be available in India starting October 1st. The Facebook does not clarify whether the goal is to bring this type of publication to other locations, but it is quite likely to happen at some point.

Digital technology in the 21st Century has increased efficiency and the quality of life. Facebook is one of such digitally charged innovative startup that took the social media sector like a storm. These days, nearly everyone is on at least one social media platform. Whether they’re liking re-tweeting, or pinning, social media users are everywhere. The fact can’t be ignored that Facebook is still the social media giant. It is really interesting what Facebook is doing right now in digital India where at least 201 million users are set to benefit from this service. Our lives have inextricably been linked to digital technology, we receive and send messages instantly, and all our friends are always up to date on the going-no’s around us. I strongly believe that this service will be of a great benefit to all this users and help close the blood donation deficit being experienced in India. Maybe it’s time Facebook also added a portion on lifestyle tips to aid better health practices that can be adopted by all.

All information will remain private and set to “only me” by default, but people can choose to share their donor status on their timeline. This will first be available on Android and mobile web, as these are the most widely-used platforms in India, said Facebook’s Health Product Manager Hema Budaraju and Ritesh Mehta, Head of Programmes in South Asia. When individuals or organizations are in need of blood, they will be able to create a special type of post with all the information donors need to easily offer help. When a request is created, Facebook will automatically notify blood donors who may be nearby to help spread the word.

It´s a great idea! Everytime that digital technology provides his works for things like this Humanity make a step forward. Facebook is facilitating the work for those who have no the time and maybe the resources to access to main services, and it´s calmative to know that maybe in a few years most of the services are going to be accessible for all the people, the only thing they are going to need is a PC and internet. Technological innovations are getting stronger and are offering to us the best tools. It just started in India, I hope this project goes further away than digital India. Good post!
